Testimony
I picked up a Gideon Bible at my college, and I read a couple of first pages. I did not understand. People told me to go to church to hear the explanation, but I thought I was a good Buddhist and wanted to change my religion. When my evening class was canceled, a Vietnamese friend invited me to an English club.
At the meeting, I was introduced to the Bible’s study and heard about Jesus in the book of John. The leaders invited me to a camping retreat with International Students, Inc. I decided to come.At the retreat, I was drawn to those volunteers who sacrificed their time and energy to serve the international students genuinely. I had never met any volunteers who served wholeheartedly for the students’ enjoyment. After the camp, I was curious and wanted to know more about Christianity. I asked to be taken to a church. A volunteer I met at the camp took me to her church with her entire family. I was overwhelmed with the hospitality and the love of a couple of families in the church. They adopted me into their families. They invited me to join them to prepare the food and celebrate Thanksgiving and Christmas. They also taught me to talk to God through prayers, and I attended the Women Bible Study at the church. God knew what I needed before presenting it to Him through prayer. I needed a place to stay at that time, and God provided the place miraculously.
Almost, a year later, the love of God through His people overflowed in me. I know that Christ died for my wrongdoing in the past, present, and future. God knows me and loves me to send Christ to die for me and to adopt me into His family. Thus, I invited Christ into my life at the end of 2011, and I noticed changes inside of me. Before, I was pessimistic and timid, and now I am full of joy. I smile more often and open to conversations and make new friends easier. I was excited to share Christ with most people I met because the kindest thing I could offer them is to share the new hope I have found in Christ. I came to know Christ from Buddhism and ancestor worship. To become a follower of Christ, I would learn from my Christian friends how to read the Bible, pray, and share Christ’s love with others by being their friends. Immediately after trusting in Christ, I shared my testimony of how I came to know Christ and how He has changed my life to other people.
